纠正 (jiū zhèng) is used for actively correcting errors, misunderstandings, or improper behavior — often with guidance or authority. It overlaps with 改正 (gǎi zhèng), but 改正 is more about amending personal faults or habits in a general sense, while 纠正 can apply to policies, pronunciation, or attitudes. For physical corrections (teeth, posture, vision), use 矫正 (jiǎo zhèng).
