Definition
织 (zhī) is the basic verb for weaving cloth or knitting yarn/wool. It contrasts with 编 (biān), which means plaiting/braiding (e.g., hair, baskets) or editing/composing, and with 编织 (biān zhī), a more general compound for weaving, knitting, or plaiting that also has figurative uses (e.g., weaving a dream).
