结论 (jiélùn) is a conclusion reached through reasoning, investigation, or analysis — common in academic, scientific, and legal contexts. It differs from 结果 (jiéguǒ), which is any result or outcome (not necessarily reasoned), and from 结局 (jiéjú), which is the final outcome of a story or event. In legal settings, 结论 can specifically mean 'verdict'.
