罐头 (guàntou) refers to a sealed metal can for preserving food, or the canned food itself. Unlike 罐 (guàn, HSK6), which means any jar or pot container (and also serves as a measure word), 罐头 always implies the airtight, store-bought tin can. 桶 (tǒng, HSK4) is a bucket or barrel, a different type of container.
