Definition
胡思乱想 (hú sī luàn xiǎng) refers to letting your mind run wild with groundless or anxious thoughts, often negative or irrational worrying. It differs from 异想天开 (yì xiǎng tiān kāi), which describes wildly unrealistic but often ambitious fantasies or wishful thinking. The former is more about pointless rumination; the latter about far-fetched daydreams.
