自然界 (zìránjiè) refers to the natural world as a whole — the environment, ecosystems, and physical phenomena. It is more formal and systematic than 自然 (zìrán, which can also mean 'natural' or 'of course'), and less poetic than 大自然 (dàzìrán, which emphasizes the grandeur of nature).
