Definition
茂 is a bound form (b.f.) — it cannot stand alone as a word in modern Chinese. You'll only see it inside compound words like 茂盛 (lush, thriving), 茂密 (dense, thick), or 茂林 (dense forest). The English equivalents 'luxuriant' and 'profuse' are free adjectives, but in Chinese you must attach 茂 to another character to form a complete word.
