Definition
著作 (zhùzuò) refers to a formal, often substantial literary or academic work, like a monograph or scholarly book. It is more weighty and formal than 书 (shū, a general book) or 文章 (wénzhāng, an article/essay). Unlike 作品 (zuòpǐn), which covers any creative piece (art, music, etc.), 著作 is specific to written works; 书籍 (shūjí) is a collective term for books.
