Definition
虽 (suī) is a short, literary form of 虽然 (suīrán) meaning 'although, even though'. It is used in formal or written Chinese, often in fixed expressions or classical-style sentences, and is less common in everyday speech than 虽然 or 虽说 (suīshuō). Unlike 即使 (jíshǐ), which marks a hypothetical concession ('even if'), 虽 always introduces a real fact.
