行列 (hángliè) refers to an organized line or rank of people/things, often in a formal or figurative sense (e.g., joining the ranks of a profession). It is more abstract than 排 (pái), which is a concrete row of items, or 行 (háng), which is a single line; 行列 implies a structured group or formation. It is also broader than 队伍 (duìwu, a queue or troop) and 队形 (duìxíng, a specific formation).
