表明 (biǎomíng) means 'to make clear/indicate' by presenting facts or evidence, often to reveal something not previously obvious. It is more evidence-based and formal than 表示 (biǎoshì), which covers expressing feelings, opinions, or showing through signs/symbols. Use 表明 when data, results, or performances show a conclusion.
