表率 (biǎo shuài) means 'role model' or 'example' but specifically refers to someone in a position of responsibility setting a standard. It is more formal and context-specific than the general 榜样 (bǎng yàng). 典范 (diǎn fàn) and 楷模 (kǎi mó) are similar but more elevated, describing ideal paragons.
