Definition

认为 (rèn wéi) means 'to think, to believe' based on reasoning or analysis — it expresses a considered opinion. It is more formal and objective than 觉得 (jué de 'to feel that') and 想 (xiǎng 'to think'), and unlike 以为 (yǐ wéi), it does not imply the thought is mistaken. Use 认为 when you want to state a belief or judgment you have thought through.
