Definition
认得 (rèn de) means 'to recognize' – to know someone or something by sight because you've seen them before. Unlike 认识 (rèn shi), which means 'to know a person' as an acquaintance or 'to get to know' someone first time, 认得 is used when you see something familiar and recall it. 知道 (zhī dào) is about knowing facts or information, not recognition.
