Definition
认输 is a separable verb (离合词) meaning 'to admit defeat' or 'to concede'. The two syllables can split when adding aspect markers (了, 过) or measure words (次, 回) between them: 认了输, 认过输, 认一次输. You cannot put an object directly after 认输 — if you need to specify who you're conceding to, use 向…认输 or 对…认输.
