Definition
讷 is a bound form (不自由语素) meaning 'to stammer' or 'to speak haltingly'. It nearly always appears in two-character compound words such as 木讷 (slow-witted, taciturn) and 讷讷 (stammering). As a single character it is not used in modern spoken Chinese; instead, 结巴 or 口吃 are the common words for 'stutter'.
