Definition
责备 (zébèi) is a general, neutral verb meaning 'to blame, criticize, or reproach' someone for a fault or mistake. It is less formal than 谴责 (qiǎnzé 'condemn, denounce') and less emotional than 埋怨 (mányuàn 'complain, blame with resentment'); 指责 (zhǐzé) is more about pointing out faults publicly or accusingly.
