Definition
贤惠 describes a woman who is virtuous, gentle, and sensible — someone who manages the household wisely and treats others with kindness. It is a traditional compliment for wives and daughters-in-law, carrying positive cultural connotations of domestic harmony and moral character. Today the word is still commonly used but some younger speakers may find it old-fashioned or gender-stereotyped.
