Definition
质朴 (zhì pǔ) describes a positive, natural simplicity — unpretentious and genuine in character, lifestyle, or design. It is very close to 朴素 (pǔ sù) 'plain, simple' and 朴实 (pǔ shí) 'simple and unpretentious', but 质朴 emphasizes a sincere, unpolished quality, whereas 朴素 focuses on frugality and lack of decoration, and 朴实 stresses honesty and down-to-earthness. 淳朴 (chún pǔ) adds a sense of rustic honesty, often for people or customs.
