Definition
费心 is a polite verb-object expression meaning 'to take trouble' or 'to go out of one's way for someone.' You use it to thank someone for their effort (谢谢你费心) or to politely ask someone to do something (费心帮我一下). As a separable verb (离合词), the object 心 can be separated from 费 when adding modifiers: 费了很多心 ('went to a lot of trouble'), 费了不少心 ('took no small trouble').
