Definition
践踏 (jiàn tà) means 'to trample' with a destructive connotation, used for literally trampling grass/crops and figuratively for violating rights or dignity. It is more formal and forceful than 踩 (cǎi), the everyday verb for simply stepping on something, and more aggressive than 踏 (tà), which often means 'to set foot on'. 踹 (chuài) means 'to kick', not to tread repeatedly.
