Definition
轻视 (qīngshì) means 'to look down on, to despise' and is the most general, neutral term among its near-synonyms — it focuses on undervaluing someone or something. 看不起 (kànbuqǐ) is more colloquial and implies contempt through attitude, while 鄙视 (bǐshì) carries stronger moral disdain. 侮辱 (wǔrǔ) is different: it means 'to insult or humiliate' through words or actions, not just a feeling.
