较为 (jiào wéi) is a formal, written adverb meaning 'relatively, comparatively'. It is more literary than 比较 (bǐjiào), which is the everyday spoken word for the same meaning. 较 (jiào) alone is shorter and slightly more classical; 较为 is the full two-syllable form used in formal writing.
