Definition
边远 (biān yuǎn) describes a place that is remote and far from the center, often on the border or fringe of a region. It's similar to 偏远 (piān yuǎn) but emphasizes being on the edge (边), while 偏僻 (piān pì) adds a sense of seclusion and desolation. 遥远 (yáo yuǎn) focuses on great distance in space or time, not necessarily being outlying.
