Definition
过世 is a polite euphemism for 'to pass away' or 'to die'. It is a separable verb (离合词): the verb 过 can separate from 世 to insert aspect markers or complements, e.g., 过了世 ('has passed away'). Use it when you want to show respect for the deceased; avoid using 死 (sǐ) in formal or sensitive contexts.
