Definition
过剩 (guò shèng) means 'to be in surplus, to be excessive' — it is used especially for supply, energy, or production that exceeds demand. It differs from 过量 (guò liàng) 'exceed a limit' (e.g., dosage) and 多余 (duō yú) 'superfluous' (redundant). 过剩 is common in economic contexts like 供应过剩 (oversupply).
