连环画 is a traditional Chinese illustrated storybook format, popular from the 1920s to 1980s. It features sequential black-and-white drawings with accompanying text, similar to a comic book but with a distinct cultural heritage. Often called 'lianhuanhua' in English, it is now a collectible item and a nostalgic symbol of Chinese popular culture.
