Definition
迷茫 describes two related but distinct states: (1) a physical scene that is vast, hazy, and hard to see clearly (e.g., foggy mountains or misty fields); (2) a psychological state of being lost, confused, or uncertain about direction in life. The second sense is far more common in everyday speech — you use it when you don't know what to do next or feel adrift. It's stronger than 困惑 (puzzled) and carries a sense of emotional disorientation.
