Definition
退役 (tuì yì) means to retire from military service or professional sports, or to be decommissioned (equipment). It differs from 退休 (tuì xiū), which is retiring from the general workforce or a job after reaching a certain age. Use 退役 for a soldier leaving the army or an athlete ending their career, and 退休 for a regular employee stopping work.
