Definition
逝世 (shìshì) is the most formal and respectful word for 'to pass away,' reserved for VIPs, public figures, or revered individuals. It is more solemn than the neutral 去世 (qùshì) and the clinical 死亡 (sǐwáng), and unlike 丧生 (sàngshēng), it does not imply an accident or violence.
