Definition
逼近 (bī jìn) means 'to approach' but with a sense of pressure or threat — an army closing in, a deadline drawing near, a storm approaching. It is stronger and more urgent than the neutral 接近 (jiē jìn) or 靠近 (kào jìn). 临近 (lín jìn) is similar in time/space but less intense, while 逼 alone focuses on the action of forcing.
