Definition
遗传 (yíchuán) refers specifically to the biological passing of traits, diseases, or genes from parent to offspring. Unlike 继承 (jìchéng), which can mean inheriting property, titles, or traits in a broader sense, 遗传 is limited to genetic/hereditary transmission. It also differs from 传承 (chuánchéng), which is used for cultural heritage, skills, or traditions passed down through generations.
