Definition
遗址 (yí zhǐ) means a historical or archaeological site — the physical location with remains of ancient structures. Unlike 废墟 (fèi xū), which emphasizes destroyed ruins, or 古迹 (gǔ jì), a broader historic place (e.g., a still-standing temple), 遗址 focuses on the excavated or buried site. 遗物 (yí wù) are the relics found at such sites.
