银行 (yínháng) is a financial institution — the place where you deposit, withdraw, or borrow money. It is not related to 岸 (àn 'river bank'), which is a different word for a different kind of 'bank'. 银行卡 (yínhángkǎ) is a 'bank card' issued by a 银行.
