Definition
镶边 is a separable verb (离合词) meaning 'to edge or trim something with lace, braid, or other decorative material'. The verb 镶 and the object 边 can split: you can insert a measure word, a result complement, or a modifier between them, e.g. 镶了一条边 ('edged with a strip of lace'). The object 边 can also be modified: 镶金边 ('edge with gold trim'). This word is used in sewing, tailoring, and crafts.
