陆军 (lù jūn) means 'army' or 'ground forces' — the land-based branch of a country's military. It is narrower than 军队 (jūn duì) or 部队 (bù duì), which can refer to the armed forces as a whole or any military unit. Its direct counterpart is 空军 (kōng jūn, air force).
