Definition
除去 has two uses. As a verb, it is a general word for 'remove, eliminate'—broader than 去除 (which often targets stains or dirt) and distinct from 排除 (rule out obstacles/possibilities). As a preposition meaning 'except for', it is more formal and literary than the common 除了.
