Definition
隐私 (yǐnsī) is the general word for 'privacy' — the right to keep personal matters, data, or life away from public view. Unlike 秘密 (mìmì 'a secret'), which is any hidden information you don't want others to know, 隐私 focuses on the modern concept of a private sphere (e.g., online privacy, personal space). It is broader than 私事 (sīshì 'personal affairs') and less formal than 机密 (jīmì 'classified information').
