面红耳赤 (miàn hóng ěr chì) is a fixed idiom describing a face and ears flushed bright red, usually from anger, excitement, exertion, or embarrassment. Unlike 恼羞成怒 (nǎo xiū chéng nù), which emphasizes flying into a rage from shame, 面红耳赤 simply describes the physical reaction without implying anger or aggression.
