Definition
顽固 (wán gù) means stubborn or obstinate, with a strong negative connotation of resisting change, new ideas, or progress. It differs from 固执 (gù zhi), which is more about refusing to change one's personal opinions, and from 倔强 (jué jiàng), which can be neutral or even positive (strong-willed). 顽固 is also used for persistent problems like diseases (e.g., 顽固的病).
