Definition
领取 (lǐng qǔ) means to receive or collect something that is issued (document, prize, money) after a formal procedure. It is more specific than 得到 (dé dào 'get'), which is a general verb, and 获得 (huò dé 'obtain, win'), which often refers to achieving something. The shorter 领 (lǐng) is often interchangeable in casual speech, but 领取 sounds more official and is preferred in written instructions.
