魔鬼 (móguǐ) refers to a 'devil' in a Western religious or mythological sense — an evil supernatural being. It differs from 鬼 (guǐ), which is a more general ghost or spirit, and from 妖怪 (yāoguài), which denotes a monster or demon in Chinese folklore. 魔鬼 can also be used metaphorically for a cruel or wicked person.
