Advanced 了 after an object
When the object is long or modified, 了 often goes at the end of the sentence rather than right after the verb. This placement emphasizes the whole event’s completion or the situation’s change. It's common with complex objects or when highlighting new information.

Subj. + Verb + Obj. + 了
Often used with long or modified objects, or to stress the entire action.
Examples
- 我上课了。Wǒ shàngkè le .I had class.
- 丽丽到火车站了。Lìlì dào huǒchēzhàn le .Lili has arrived at the train station.
- 我今天见老朋友了。Wǒ jīntiān jiàn lǎopéngyou le .I met my old friend today.
- 他提交那些报告了。Tā tíjiāo nàxiē bàogào le .He filed those reports.
- 我听说昨天在地铁站发生的事情了。Wǒ tīngshuō zuótiān zài dìtiězhàn fāshēng de shìqing le .I heard about what happened yesterday at the subway station.
