Basic sentence order

In Chinese, the simplest sentences follow Subject + Verb order. This is the foundation for all longer sentences. Remember not to put the verb before the subject.

    Wǒ chī.
    I eat.
  • 你看。
    Nǐ kàn.
    You look.
  • 他走。
    Tā zǒu.
    He walks.

    Māma xiào.
