Doing something more with 多
To express doing something more, place 多 directly before the verb. It’s commonly used in suggestions or commands, often with 点 (a little) to soften the tone.
Structure
多 + Verb (+ 点/一点 + Obj.)
点/一点 is optional but common to mean 'a little more'.
Examples
- 多吃点。Duō chī diǎn.Eat a little more.
- 多放点辣。Duō fàng diǎn là.Add a little more spiciness.
- 爷爷,你要多出去走走。Yéye, nǐ yào duō chūqù zǒuzou.Gramps, you need to go out and take walks more often.
- 我想多陪陪家人。Wǒ xiǎng duō péipei jiārén.I want to spend more time with my family.
- 感冒的时候要多喝水。Gǎnmào de shíhou yào duō hē shuǐ.Drink more water when you have a cold.
