Expressing "enough" with 够
Use 够 before a verb or adjective to indicate that something is sufficient. The particle 了 is often added at the end for emphasis, but it's not required.
Structure
够 + Verb / Adj. (+ 了)
了 is optional, but adds emphasis
Examples
- 我们买了很多菜，够吃了。Wǒmen mǎi le hěn duō cài, gòu chī le .We bought a lot of food. It's enough for us to eat.
- 这些纸够用吗？Zhèxiē zhǐ gòu yòng ma?Is this paper enough for us to use?
- 放心吧，我带的钱够花。Fàngxīn ba, wǒ dài de qián gòu huā.Don't worry. I've brought enough money to spend.
- 我对你够好了。Wǒ duì nǐ gòu hǎo le .I've been good enough to you.
- 别抱怨了，你够幸运了。Bié bàoyuàn le, nǐ gòu xìngyùn le .Stop complaining. You've been lucky enough.
