Adverbs with AdjectivesHSK 3

Modifying nouns with adjective + 的

To describe a noun with an adjective in Chinese, place the adjective before the noun and connect them with 的. This pattern is extremely common for attributing characteristics. Note that with single-character adjectives, 的 can sometimes be omitted, but for two-character adjectives, 的 is generally required.

Structure

Adj. + 的 + Noun
的 is typically required when the adjective has two characters; it can occasionally be omitted with single-character adjectives.
