Questions with 了 吗
To ask a yes-no question about a completed action, add 了 (completed-action marker) then 吗 (question particle) at the end of the sentence. The order is always 了 before 吗, never reversed. A common mistake is saying 吗了 instead of 了吗.

- 你吃饭了吗？Nǐ chīfàn le ma ?Did you eat?
- 老板走了吗？Lǎobǎn zǒu le ma ?Did the boss leave?
