Expressing "let alone" with 更不用说

Use 连...都/也...，更不用说...了 to express that if even A is true (or not), then B is even more so. This pattern puts the more extreme case first, opposite to the 别说 structure.

  • 连我都不知道这个歌手，更不用说他了。
    Lián wǒ dōu bù zhī dào zhè ge gē shǒu, gèng bú yòng shuō tā le.
    I don't even know the singer, let alone him.
  • 连周末都要加班，更不用说工作日了。
    Lián zhōu mò dōu yào jiā bān, gèng bú yòng shuō gōng zuò rì le.
    I have to work overtime even on weekends, not to mention work days.
  • 妹妹连80分也没有得过，更不用说100分了。

    Xiao Ming can't even take care of himself, let alone take care of children.
  • 他连自己国家的国旗都不认识，更不用说其他国家的了。
    Tā lián zì jǐ guó jiā de guó qí dōu bú rèn shi, gèng bú yòng shuō qí tā guó jiā de le.
    He can't even recognize his own country's flag, not to mention any other countries' flags.
