一无所知 (yī wú suǒ zhī) — (idiom) to know nothing about something; to be completely ignorant

This origin belongs to the traditional form 無; 无 is its simplified writing.

For the simplified 无, the story is about 無. 無 drew a person dancing with ox tails held in both hands to pray for rain, then was borrowed for 'have no', so the picture does not explain that meaning.

所 pairs 斤, an axe, with 戶, which gives the sound hù; the old meaning was the sound of logging.

An early form of 知 showed 大 (adult), 口 (mouth), and 子 (child): an adult speaking to a child to pass on knowledge. The 子 part was dropped, and the 大 part changed shape.
